The Jordanian Transparency Center, in cooperation with the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives, organized a dialogue session to discuss the draft Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law, which the Parliamentary Legal Committee began discussing in the House of Representatives, and at the initiative of its Chairman, Representative Dr. Mustafa Al-Amawi, the Center was invited to participate in its meetings.
After the welcoming speech from the head of the Jordanian Transparency Center, Mrs. Hilda Ajeilat, who thanked the speakers and guests, she announced the start of the session, in which MP Dr. Mustafa Al-Amawi and Mr. Ramzi Nozha participated. The lawyer, Mr. Fawaz Al-Shobaki, member of the center’s administrative board, reviewed the paper of His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jazi, former Minister of Justice Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan.
The session was moderated by lawyer Mr. Safwan Al-Majali, a member of the center’s administrative board, who welcomed the guests and thanked the speakers for accepting the invitation.
Then MP Dr. Al-Amawi began to give a brief about the project and the steps to discuss it, where a meeting was held in the House of Representatives, to which concerned persons from the government and outside were invited, including the Jordanian Transparency Center The lawyer, Mr. Fawaz Al-Shobaki, presented the remarks of His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jazi, who indicated the extent to which the project is in line with the International Convention against Corruption and some of the positives found in the Anti-Corruption Commission Law, which were not included in the current project, and then Mr. Ramzi Nozha spoke who commended what was stated in the paper of His Excellency Dr. Al-Jazi, and added suggestions and aspirations to the draft law due to his extensive knowledge and valuable experience as a former member of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
After that, the floor was opened for the audience to make interventions, and the remarks of His Excellency Dr. Marwan Al-Muasher, His Excellency the Representative, Dr. Mustafa Yaghi, the media person Tahsin Al-Tal, the lawyer Moaz Abu Dalo, and Mr. Muhammad Al-Kiswani, and a number of distinguished attendees were listened to.
The meeting was distinguished by the quality of attendance of public figures, representatives of Parliament, the private sector, legal activists, media professionals and youth. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ola Abbasi, a member of the Jordanian Transparency Center presented the proposed recommendations reached by the center after an in-depth study and consultation with local experts, which MP Dr. Al-Amawi promised to take seriously. And taken into consideration when discussing the project in the meetings of the Legal Committee for the public interest.
The Jordanian Transparency Center thanked the distinguished speakers and attendees for their active participation, which is in the public interest by discussing the most important reform bills that have a significant impact on the country and the citizen.
